Holcim expanding its concrete plants business by acquiring General Beton Romania

 Cement and prefabricated producer Holcim Romania has announced the acquisition of General Beton Romania, a leading local concrete producer and trader, as the transaction received the approval of the competition authority.

According to a press statement by the company released on Friday, with the acquisition of General Beton Romania, the network of Holcim Romania concrete plants reaches 27, located in the counties of Arad, Constanta, Iasi, Brasov, Cluj, Craiova, Oradea, Ploiesti, Satu-Mare, Sibiu, Targu-Mures, Timis, and in Bucharest City.

General Beton Romania SRL is a leading local concrete maker and trader, with experience and expertise of over 24 years in Romania. The company currently has eight concrete plants in main cities. In 2021, the company reported a turnover of about 33 million euros and a workforce of 160 employees.

The Holcim Romania group of companies includes Holcim Romania (two cement plants in Campulung and Alesd, a grinding station, 27 concrete stations, three aggregate stations, two special binder stations and three cement terminals), Somaco Grup Prefabricate (five prefabricated factories and one BCA factory ) and Geocycle Romania (three outlets for waste pre-treatment).

The company has about 1,700 employees in all.
