Ciolos: Health care and education priorities upon budget rectification

Health care and Education will be reallocation priorities upon budget rectification, Dacian Ciolos told MPs present on Monday at “Premier Hour”. He assured them that “he would not cut more” from the approver budget law.

The premier’s declarations were made in the context in which MPs criticised the government for having blocked 10% of the education budget, a field which already has insufficient funds.

Ciolos explained that the Finance Ministry had blocked 10% of the state budget as the introduction of new fiscal facilities would put pressure on deficit.

“In order to control the budget deficit, I introduced this rule of 10% buffer, money which will be unblocked for education and for the other domains. Anyway, I have already said, education and health are priorities for us this year,” the premier pointed out.

He added that according to the way in which money will be spent in other domains, if there are availabilities, education and health care will be among “reallocation priorities.”

“I do not say we should cut more from what was decided by you in the 2016 budget law,” Ciolos told the MPs.

The MPs who took the floor also referred to the use of emergency orders by the government as an instrument to modify the law.

The premier assured the MPs that the government do not intend to come with emergency orders to change “in depth” the education law.

“We consider that during the short mandate we have at our disposal, it is essential to contribute to the implementation of legislative decisions found in the law, but which have not been implemented since the law was adopted and which the education system needs,” the premier answered.
