Danube- Aegean Sea highway, vital component for Romania's economic development
Large Infrastructure Projects Company from Bulgaria presented the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) president Mihai Daraban one of the most ample regional infrastructure projects, Danube- Aegean Sea highway, part of it connecting Bucharest to the highway network already existing between Bulgaria and Greece.
The president of the Chamber of Trade and Industry met representatives of the Bulgarian company on Thursday, to identify the best solutions to revitalize commercial exchanges carried out in the North-Eastern and South Eastern parts of Europe, more exactly between the Baltic and Aegean seas, a CCIR press release shows.
The project was proposed by Bulgarian businessmen with CCIR support and we will identify together ways of putting it into practice. It is an opportunity Romania should not miss, especially since such a highway, once completed, will turn the Danube into an important commercial corridor and will develop Constanta Port. At the same time, Bucharest will be directly connected to Hemus, Trakia and Maritsa highways in Bulgaria, and then with Egnatia Odos in Greece, which will mean a substantial increase of the commercial volume with these states,” Mihai Daraban declared.
In his turn, Roumen Markov, the general manager of Large Infrastructure Projects, pointed out that Aegean to Baltic Sea Connection & Danube is meant to connect north-eastern and south eastern parts of Europe by highways, so that transition by car from the Baltic to the Aegean seas could become a day by day reality.
“The Project is meant to connect north-eastern and south eastern parts of Europe by highways, so that transition of the area by car should become a day by day reality, At present, this journey is hard to complete, highways being rare, not existing or not interconnected. That is why, Danube-Aegean Sea highway represents a priority for us, being an important part of the whole pan-European project, “said Roumen Markov.
