Eurobarometer:Half of Romanians believe that the economic situation is rather good

Half of the Romanians consider that the present economic situation in their region is rather good, while 13% consider that it is very bad, according to a EC Eurobarometer.

According to the quoted source, 7% of the Romanians consider that the economic situation is very good, percentages over the average being registered in the regions Bucuresti-Ilfov (13%), West (11%) and Centre (9%).

The highest percentage of the Romanians according to whom the economic situation is very bad was registered in North-West (20%), South-West Oltenia (18%) and South-East (15%).

At the EU level, 10% of the citiens answered that the economic situation in their region is very good, 55% rather good, 25% rather bad and 7% very bad.

In terms of quality of life, 58% of Romanians think it is rather good, 20% rather bad, 11% very good and 10% very bad. The quality of life is considered very good by 16% of Romanians in the North-West and West regions, 15% in the Centre region and 14% in the South-West Oltenia region. Most Romanians who consider it very bad are from the South-East and North-East regions, 15%, and South-West Oltenia - 14%.
The quality of life is considered very good by 20% of the EU citizens, rather good by 62% and rather bad by 13%.

The most important issues the region is facing are according to the Romanians living costs (40%), health (38%), the economic situation and unemployment (30%) and the educational system (24%). At the level of the EU, the main issues are living costs (31% of the answers), health(26%), economic situation and unemployment (26%) and residences (20%).

When asked how likely they are to vote in the June 2024 European Parliament elections, 53% of Romanians said very likely, 22% quite likely, 10% rather unlikely and 14% very unlikely. At EU level, the answers were 57% very likely, 20% quite likely, 10% rather unlikely and 10% very unlikely.

Most Romanians who consider that it is very likely to vote are from the regions Bucuresti-Ilfov (56%), North-East (55%) and South-East (55%). The highest percentage of those who answered that it is very unlikely was registered in the regions South-West Oltenia (16%), West (15%) and Bucuresti-Ilfov (15%).

The investigation was developed between 11 January – 15 February 2024, with 62,091 interviews at the level of the EU, namely 2,455 in Romania.
