Family physicians organisations request dismissal of Health Minister and CNAS president
The National Family Medicine Society (SNMF) and the National Federation of Family Physicians' Employers (FNPMF) request the dismissal of Health Minister Florian Bodog and president of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), against the backdrop of CNAS announcing that the interval for the signing of the additional papers for the prolongation of the contracts concluded with the medical services providers is closed.
"We consider that CNAS's intention not to continue with the signing of the additional papers shows immense lack of responsibility towards the population's health state and a failure to comply with the legal obligations provided for by the law! Given that the county health insurance houses have not notified the medical services providers regarding the intention not to extend the interval for the signing of the additional papers for 2018's first quarter of the contracts concluded by the medical services providers with the health insurance houses, we consider the law is being severely breached and shows contempt towards approximately 4.5 million Romanians who have found themselves without family physicians through CNAS's reckless decision," reads a press statement sent on Thursday by SNMF.
The signatories claim that this fact "is all the more serious" as this population lives in counties where the source of other medical services providers in the primary medical assistance is very reduced.
According to the press statement, the above-mentioned organisations request the dismissal of the Health Minister, of the president of CNAS but also of the legal directors of the Health Ministry and CNAS.
CNAS announced on Thursday that the interval for the signing of the additional papers prolonging the contracts concluded by the providers of medical services with the health insurance houses was closed, however, those who did not manage to sign them will be able to engage in contractual relations with County Health Insurance Houses (CJAS) based on contracts of limited duration (until 31 March), being due to be signed at a date to be subsequently announced. CNAS told Agerpres in a press release that up to the closure of the interval for the prolongation of contracts with the health insurance houses, over 75 percent of family physicians around the country had signed the addenda.
