France reaffirms its readiness to support Romania's accession to Schengen space

France has reaffirmed, on Thursday, its willingness to bring its full support to the identification of a real prospect for the advancement of the project of Romania's accession to Schengen Space.

'' In the context of participating in the Justice and Home Affairs Council, in Brussels, on Thursday, March 7, 2013, the delegation headed by Interior Minister Radu Stroe had a series of bilateral meetings. Thus, during the meeting with the French delegation, it was reconfirmed Paris availability to bring its full support to identify a prospect for the advancement of the project of Romania's accession to Schengen Space'', MAI informs in a press release.

Also, the quoted source adds, during the meeting with Bulgarian Minister of Interior Tzvetan Tzvetanov, the two sides have agreed maintaining this political objective viability for Bucharest and Sofia and established that, in the next period, to resume the joint diplomatic contacts among all Member States.

In turn, the Slovakian delegation reconfirmed its support for the completion of the accession process without additional conditions, which would hamper the fulfillment of the technical criteria.

During a meeting held on the fringes of the Council, Minister Radu Stroe and his German counterpart, Hans-Peter Friedrich, talked about the ways in which some of the issues raised on the occasion of the JHA Council on home affairs might be solved.
