Govt: 60 hospitals to lose governmental financing, 7 to become elderly care homes, on Labour Ministry's money
Starting April 1, the Government cease central financing to 60 hospitals, whereas more 7 are turned into elderly care homes, on governmental money, through the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Security, in compliance with the decision the Government passed, on Thursday, Romania's Health Minister Attila Cseke informed.
Out of the 67 hospitals that will no longer get specific financing from the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), 41 have one emergency line, 15 have none, and only one hospital, namely that in Comanesti, Bacau County (east) has a two-shift emergency room, Minister Attila Cseke said.
The seven hospitals to become elderly care homes are: the Vintila Voda Hospital in Buzau County (east), the Bosca Hospital for Chronic Diseases, in Caras-Severin County (west), the Roznov Hospital in Neamt County (east), the Ceul Silvaniei Hospital for Chronic Diseases in Salaj County (central), Cervenia Healthcare Center and the Furculesti Healthcare Center both in Teleorman County (south) and the Tutova Hospital for Chronic Diseases, in Vaslui County (east).
Under the circumstances, the Health Ministry asked the local authorities and the managers of these hospitals to no longer hospitalize new patients in these units.The annual budgets of the 67 hospitals total 174.2 million lei (rd. 42 million euros), salary funds included, Health Ministry figures say.
