In  February  2017,  the  retail  turnover  increased  by  4.8%  compared to February 2016

  • Compared  to  the previous month, in February 2017  the  retail  turnover volume  (excluding  the  trade  with  motor  vehicles  and  motorcycles)  increased  both  as  gross  series  by  2.9%  and  as  adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 1.8%.

  • Compared  to  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year,  the  retail  turnover  volume  (excluding the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased both as gross series and as  adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 4.8% and by 7.8%,  respectively.

  • Compared  to  the  period  1.I?29.II.2016,  in  the  period  1.I?28.II.2017 the  retail  turnover  volume  (excluding the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased both as gross series and as  adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 5.4% and by 7.1%,  respectively. 

 

 Romania's retail trade turnover (except of motor vehicles and motorcycles) advanced 7.1 percent in the first two months of 2017, y-o-y, when adjusted for working days and seasonality and also 5.4 percent in unadjusted terms, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Tuesday. 

The 5.4-percent rise stated in unadjusted terms was the result of an increase in the retail trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+12.1 percent), retail trade of non-food (+6.5 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.0 percent). 

The 7.1-percent increase in the retail trade turnover adjusted for working days and seasonality was the result of increased trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+9.4 percent), retail trade of non-food (+8.7 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+3.1 percent). 

February 2017 retail trade turnover (except of motor vehicles and motorcycles) went up 2.9 percent in unadjusted terms and 1.8 percent when adjusted for working days and seasonality, both on a monthly basis. 

The 2.9-percent rise happened on increases in the retail trade of non-food (+6.2 percent), retail trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+1.7 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+0.2 percent). 

The unadjusted 1.8-percent monthly increase of February 2017 was the result of increases in retail trade of non-food (+3.2 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.6 percent). Retail trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores was down 0.8 percent, according to INS. 

Compared with the same month one year before, retail trade turnover (except of motor vehicles and motorcycles) was up in 4.8 percent in unadjusted terms and 7.8 percent when adjusted for working days and seasonality. 

The 4.8-percent rise was the result of rising retail trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+9.4 percent), retail trade of non-food (+6.0 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.1 percent). 

The 7.8-percent y-o-y increase in the February 2017 retail trade turnover happened amides rises in retail trade of non-food (+9.2 percent), retail trade of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+7.0 percent) as well as retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (+3.6 percent).
