INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION UP 4.9% IN FEBRUARY 2017 FROM FEBRUARY 2016

  • In February 2017, industrial production increased by 6.7% as gross series compared to the previous month and was up 0.6% as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality.

  • Compared to the same month of the previous year, industrial production rose by 4.9% as gross series and was up 5.5% as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality.

  • In the 1.I-28.II.2017 period, industrial production increased by 5.4% as gross series compared to the 1.I-29.II.2016 period and rose by 5.6% as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality.

 

Industrial output increased in February 2017, compared to the same month of the previous year by 4.9 pct gross series and by 5.5 pct series adjusted by the number of working days and seasonality, reads a press release of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) sent on Tuesday.

According to INS, compared to same month of the previous year, industrial output (gross series) increased by 4.9 pct due to increases recorded in all three industrial sectors: production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+ 6.2 pct), manufacturing (+ 4.9 pct) and mining industry (+ 1.1 pct). 

The industrial output, as series adjusted on the number of working days and seasonality, increased by 5.5 pct as a result of increases of production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning (+ 10.4 pct) and manufacturing industry (+ 4.8 pct). The mining industry decreased by 3.6 pct. 

According to INS, in February 2017, the industrial output (gross series) increased compared to the previous month by 6.7 pct, due to the growth of the manufacturing (+ 8.8 pct) and mining (+ 0.4 pct) industries. Production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning decreased by 10.3 pct. 

The industrial output, series adjusted by the number of working days and seasonality was higher compared to the previous month by 0.6 pct. The extractive industry and the manufacturing industry have increased by 4.4 pct and 0.3 pct, and the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning lowered by 2.1 pct. 

From January 1 to February 28, 2017, compared to the same period of 2016, the industrial output (gross series) was higher by 5.4 pct, due to growth in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, steam and air conditioning (+ 5.8 pct) and the manufacturing industry (+ 5.7 pct). The mining industry decreased by 3.1 pct. 

The industrial output, series adjusted by the number of working days and seasonality, from January 1 to February 28, 2017, compared to the same period of 2016, increased by 5.6 pct due to increase in the production and supply of electrical and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+ 8 pct) and the manufacturing industry (+ 5.4 pct). The mining industry decreased by 5.5 pct.
