IRES survey: Most Romanians agree with street protests
Most Romanian people, 98 percent, have heard of the street protests which have taken place over the past few weeks and 81 percent consider that they are a good thing, reveals a sociologic survey conducted by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES) revealed to the public on Wednesday.
According to the survey, one percentage point of the respondents said that they took place to all the street manifestations in their city, 4 percent said they took place at more protests and another four said they took place only once at the protests.
Whereas 81 percent of the interviewed believe that these protests were a good thing, 13 percent believe it is a bad thing.
According to the polled, the major topics approached by protesters centred around the change of president and Government, as well around the poor living standard, the low income and the lack of jobs.
The IRES survey was conducted between January 27 and 28, 2012 on a representative sample of 1,099 people in all regions of Romania. The error margin is plus or minus three percent.
