MApN: Romanian, Moroccan cooperation agreement in military, technical areas

Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar and his Moroccan counterpart Abdeltif Loudyi signed in Rabat the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco on cooperation in the military and technical areas, a first in the relation between the two countries, informs MApN (Ministry of National Defence ).

The agreement, the first document of its kind signed between Romania and Morocco "will provide the legal framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as defence industry, training of personnel in military institutions, training and exercises, military medicine and cyber security," the source said.

"I am convinced that this agreement, which is a first, will provide the necessary impetus for deepening cooperation in the defence area between Romania and the Kingdom of Morocco, to the benefit of both countries," said the Romanian minister.

During the bilateral meeting, Ministers Tilvar and Loudyi discussed topics of common interest regarding the Romanian-Moroccan relationship, with a focus on technical-military cooperation and the global security situation, highlighting the specificities of the African continent.

In this context, Angel Tilvar invited the Moroccan side to participate in the ninth edition of the largest exhibition of military and security technology in Eastern Europe - Black Sea Defence and Aerospace BSDA 2024, which will take place in Bucharest at the end of May, an invitation accepted by the Rabat counterpart.

Finally, the Romanian Defence minister stressed that Romania's National Strategy for Africa provides the necessary vision for the country's future commitments on the continent, including in the security area.
