Negative population growth rate in June 2017

- In June 2017 the number of births and the number of deaths decreased compared to May 2017.

- The  number  of  marriages  slightly  increased  in  June  2017  compared  to  May  2017,  and  the number or divorces dropped. - - -The number of deaths of children under 1 year fell in June 2017 compared to May 2017

 

Romania recorded a negative population growth rate in June 2017 of 4,242 persons in June 2017, as there were 15,504 births to 19,746 deaths, according to data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). 

In June, 549 fewer children were born compared with May, with and the number of deaths decreasing by 978. The number of deaths of children under one year of age in June 2017 was 113, down 10 from May 2017. 

On the other hand, in June 2017, the registrar's offices reported 12,304 marriages, up 36 from May 2017. The number of divorces pronounced under final court rulings under Law no. 202/2010 was 2,568, by 125 fewer than in May 2017. 

Compared with the same month of 2016, the number of live births in June 2017 was lower by 538, while the number of deaths was 1,105 lower than in June 2016. The population growth was negative in June 2017 (-4,242 persons) and in June 2016 (-4,809 persons). There were 19 fewer children under one year of age in June 2017 than in June 2016. 

There were 1,048 fewer marriages than in the same month of the previous year. There were also 491 fewer final divorces under Law no. 202/2010 pronounced in June 2017 than in June 2016.
