Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos has met with representatives of the U.S. Administration to strenghten the economic partnership
During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos had several meetings with the American Administration representatives, who are involved in supporting and developping the economic cooperation, gov.ro informs .
„The aim of our metings with the U.S. Administration representatives is to build, in addition to the security partnership, an economic partnership too, based on a closer cooperation. The Romanian economy offers a series of opportunities to the American investors, in areas such as: the automotive industry, IT, agriculture or the energy sector and the United States can be a more involved and active partner on the local market, as the Romanian companies can be more present on the American market”, Prime Minister Ciolos has stated.
On the first meeting with the Secretary for Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, the Romanian Prime Minister together with the Minister of Agriculture have presented the opportunities of the Romanian agricultural sector, and the possibilities of cooperation with the American side. Romania has reinstated all food safety conditionalities so that the exports of pork and other food products on the American market, can be resumed. Other discussions aimed at the effects that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership could generate at the bilateral level.
During the meeting with the Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos and other members of the delegation have outlined, and argued in connection with the favorable moment that the Romanian economy knows, with one of the highest rates of economic growth in the region. One of the key discussions have aimed at the institutional cooperation between representative authorities of the two countries, for the development and consolidation of models of good practice in the field of SMEs.
The American side has showed full readiness to encourage the American companies to step up trade exchanges and investment given that our country provides stability and legislative predictability to business environment. Over the next period, new ways of encouraging the export capacity of Romanian companies will be identified.
The third meeting with representatives of the American Administration implied a constructive dialogue with the Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz. Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos together with the Minister of Energy, Victor Grigorescu have presented the structure of the Romanian energy sector, based on a mix of resources and the strategy to attract new technologies for their exploitation.
In this respect, the Romanian specialized institutes are expected to cooperate with American partners, so that the modern solutions of both energy efficiency and environment protection can be applied for the appropriate exploitation of the existing resources. The American companies’ interest in the energy area has been outlined as well as the strategy whereby Romania can become a true center of energy resources in the region.
During the visit to the United States, the Romanian delegation led by Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos has met at a working lunch, with representatives of several companies and business associations that are present in Romania or are interested to make investments here: Amerocap, Amgen, Coca Cola Company, ExxonMobil, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Medtronic, Parsons, Pifzer, Textron, Oracle, Cargill, Dow Chemical.
