Report: Number of millionaires grew by 3.7% in Romania last year
The number of Romanians with wealth over one million dollars was 11,200 in 2016, on the rise by 3.7% compared to 2015, while 180 had over 30 million dollars, according to the report made by the real estate consulting company Knight Frank, based on date supplied by the research company New World Wealth.
The authors of the study estimate that in 2026 there will be 12,300 Romanians with fortunes over 1 million dollars.
In 2016 there were 490 persons in Romania with wealth over 10 million dollars, compared to 470 persons in 2015.
The consulting company estimates there will be 540 Romanians with over 10 million dollars in the next 10 years.
The study also showed that last year, 180 Romanians owned over 30 million dollars, more than in 2015. For 2026 study authors estimate there will be over 200 persons.
In 2016, there were 21 Romanians who owned fortunes of over 100 million dollars.
The number of billionaires remained constant. Two people had fortunes over 1 billion dollars in 2016, similar to 2015.
The number of people with fortunes over 30 million dollars in the world grew by 6340 in 2016, according to the report.
This increase changes the 3% decline seen in 2015.
