Study: only 3 out of 10 employees consider themselves satisfied with the extrasalary benefits offered by the employer

Only 28% of the Romanian employees consider themselves satisfied with the extrasalary benefits offered by the company where they work, shows a survey published on Wednesday by the recruitment site eJobs which also shows that employees want most to benefit  from courses of personal development or medical subscription to private clinics.

The survey was made between 26 April and 27 June 2017 on a sample of 1,500 employees, all active professionally at present, out of whom 20% with management positions and 76% with higher education studies.

The domains of activity with the highest sare among the interviewees  are sales, IT, engineering and constructions. The most popular five benefits offered at present by the employer according to the study e.Jobs are medical subscriptions to private clinics (56%) flexi-time (53%) personal development courses (43%), vouchers or discounts to agreed partners (33%) and sporting and recreation facilities (31%).

But for employees the top of benefits considered as being very important is a little different: 82% of the interviewees consider as compulsory that the employer offer personal development courses, 78% medical subscription to private clinics, 62% think that flexi-time is essential, 50%expect  to benefit from sporting and recreation facilities, and for 44% compulsory are the personal development courses as  well.

‘Besides vouchers, private clinics what has started to get more important lately are the perks connected to balance between personal life and professional one. Here comes subscription to sporting activities, flexi-time, working from home opportunity, discounts to restaurants, special tariffs to certain hotels  or events’ stated the sales manager in eJobs Group, Bogdan Badea.

Only 29% of the interviewees  in the e.Jobs survey say that the employer offers them subscriptions to gyms or sporting activities, as part of the perks package, while 71% of the employees benefit from a discount only. A big part (37%)of those who benefit from a subscription to a gym offered by the employer were to the gym at least once a week  in the last three months. In case the company did not support the sporting package, 22% of the employees would not pay for it themselves, 29% would spend at most 100 lei per month, and 40% would give between 100 and 200 lei to go to the gym or to continue involvement in different sporting activities.

At the same time, the majority  (73%) of those who do not benefit from sport services would recommend to their employers to include such services in the perks package and they also think that they would more motivated to go to the gym if the subscription would be paid by the employer or they would have the possibility to go with a partner. According to the e.Jobs study, the employees would like to get other perks, most wanted being :home-working -70%, teambuilding – 58%, payments to special events in the life of the employee (wedding, baptism, etc.)- 64%,payment for transport expenses – 41%, health  insurance – 29% and private  pension – 21%.
