‘Health services, air pollution and road infrastructure are the most important three urban issues resulted as a result of a survey with over 13,000 inhabitants in 41 urban localities in Romania’ shows the ministry of public works, development in a press release.
Inspired by the Eurobarometre Flash of the European Commission, the survey is the first urban barometre in the history of Romania. The urban barometre was developed in the project of establishment of the Urban Policy of Romania, developed by the Ministry of public works, development and administration and the World Bank in an agreement of technical assistance, says the ministry.
The survey focused on the quality of urban life and was presented between 1st July and 15th August 2020.
‘According to it, the highest level of general satisfaction towards the city they live in, is recorded in urban centres in the Centre of Romania (87%) and the lowest in Sud-Muntenia (74%). In 9cities, the level of satisfaction surpasses 90%: Cluj-Napoca (97%), Oradea (96%), Alba Iulia (95%)Brasov, Drobeta Turnu Severin (94%) Timisoara, Sighisoara (92%), Slatina, Iasi (90%)’, says the ministry.
Educational infrastructure and public safety as well as the availability of shops are aspects which record the highest levels of satisfaction in the urban environment. The last positions in the hierarchy of appreciation of facilities and urban infrastructure are occupied by health services and the state of streets followed by the activity of the public administration in the domain of urbanism.
In the same project, there was presented a survey among 259 urban administrations in Romania, between 11th February – 31st March 2020. This survey was answered by representatives of the local administration of 41 county capitals, 49 municipal cities (others than the county capitals), 165 cities as well the general administration of Bucharest and the local ones in three sectors of Bucharest.
According to the local public administration, the main three urban issues are road infrastructure ( with the majority of needs represented by intra-urban roads), infrastructure of utilities ( the most frequent needs being connected to infrastructure of water and sewage followed by that of natural gas distribution) and educational infrastructure.
