The Greek ambassador: Romania’s economy has no sufficient funding. The solution: EU funds
The Greek ambassador to Bucharest, Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis states, in an interview offered to Mediafax that a problem all investors face in Romania is lack of funding, the solution being the creation of structures which should assume the burden of growth of European funds absorption.
Grigorios Vassilconnstandakis considers that, despite the crisis, the Greek firms continued to invest in Romania, as ‘ they find a favourable business environment’ here. One of the issues noted by all investors is the insufficient funding, many opportunities of business being unable to find funding.
According to the Greek ambassador, the solution to this problem is the development of structures both in the public sector and the private sector to assume the burden of increasing the absorption of EU funds.
Vassilonconstandakis states that the Greek business people and the Greek banks which operate in Romania can help in this sense, as a result of the success experience of four decades as regards the absorption of EU funds by Greece, especially in transport infrastructure, which Romania needs.
On the other hand, Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis says that the reduction of the budgetary deficit and the increase of competitivity will make Greece a destination of more attractive investments, reason for which they invite the Romanian business people and take into consideration new opportunities for business in his country.
When referring to the Greek presidency of the EU closed in June, the Greek diplomat stated that the first objective aimed at the recovery after the crisis and the attempt to answer the urgent needs of the European citizens. At the same time, Greece tried to get back the EU credibility and its ability to obtain results in critical situations.
