Arrears on loans granted to companies and the population amounted to over 13.6 billion lei at the end of February, their value decreasing by 35.7 pct as compared to the one recorded at the end of the same month of 2016, according to data centralized by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Of this amount, more than 6 billion represented debt outstanding in the national currency, down by 33.4 pct, and about 7.55 billion lei debt outstanding in foreign currency, down by 37.5 pct.
Out of the total arrears, about 4.98 billion lei were registered in Bucharest.
The overall loans exceeded 222.5 billion lei at the end of February, being 2.11 pct higher than the value recorded at the end of 2015. Loans in the national currency amounted to 127.1 billion lei.
As regards loans granted to households, of over 113.1 billion lei, the ones for consumption totaled more than 51.4 billion lei, those for housing exceeded 59 billion lei, and for other purposes - over 1.27 billion lei.
