Romania has to pay another 128.1 million euro to the EU an WB in 2015
Romania has still to pay this year, another 128.1 million euro to the European Union and the World Bank from the stand-by contract in 2009, according to the data presented by the ministry of public finances (MFP).
Since the beginning of the year, our country gave back over 1.732 billion euro to the IMF, the EU and the WB.
The biggest part of the sum, over 1.546 billion euro was paid on 1 January to the EU out of which 1.5 billion euro represented reimbursement capital instalments, and 46.2 million lei interest and commissions.
On 1 February, the Romanian state paid 18.3 million lei to the World Bank (interests and commissions) and on 5th of the same month the sum of 3 million euro was paid to the IMF ( interests and commissions). At the same time, on 23 February Romania paid 162 million euro (capital instalments) to IMF. On the first day of March the sum of 3.2 million euro was paid to the World Bank (interests and commissions).
The reimbursements are made in the account of the financial package offered to Romania by the international financers in 2009 with a total value of 19.95 billion euro.
In 2009, Romania signed a stand-by loan for 24 months worth 12.95 billion euro with the IMF, part of a support package of 19.95 billion offered by the IMF, EU and WB.
By this arrangement with IMF, Romania got in possession of seven of the eight lumps contracted, worth 10.57 billion DST (approximately 11.9 billion euro).
The last lump was considered, at the request of the Romanian authorities as preventive, in the context of the favourable macroeconomic evolutions, and was not used.
