Bitdefender signs accord with American router producer Netgear
The software producer Bitdefender signed a technology licence partnership with the American equipment producer for Netgear networks, which will include in its products security solutions for smart devices, developed in Romania under the name of Netgear Armor.
The partnership will offer additional security to WiFi router users, preventing cyber attacks and protecting sensitive data from attackers, a company press release shows. The main benefit of Netgear Armor is that it represents a centralised security solution which protects all devices from cyber attacks, said Davind J. Henry, vicepresident of Home Networking within Netgear.
“Integrating Bitdefender solutions in Netgear routers will decisively contribute to preventing breaches and IT attacks coming through smart devices, from thermostats and bells to baby monitor cameras and smart TV sets,”said Ciprian Istrate, vicepresident for consumer solutions at Bitdefender.
Last year, Bitdefender signed a partnership with the Japanese company BBSS for the distribution of security solutions for smart devices Bitdefender BOX. BBSS is a subsidiary of Softbank company group, the third largest company listed in Japan, after Toyota and Mitsubishi, with activities in telecommunications, online trade, technology, financial services, marketing and media.
Bitdefender is the first company in the world which launched in 2015 a security device meant to protect electronic devices of daily use which are connected to the Internet, from cyber threats. The new Bitdefender BOX version, made in Satu Mare, will be launched in Romania in 2018. Bitdefender BOX offers an advanced personal data protection, warning on dangerous threats and blocking attackers’ attempts to invade the users’ privacy.
Negear products are sold in 30,000 shops the world over, by means of 25,000 resellers and telecommunications companies. The company based in San Jose, California has offices in 25 countries.
