Dacia increases production in Romania by 3.2 pct in H1 to 175,992 cars

Carmaker Dacia, controlled by French group Renault, has increased its production at the local plant in Mioveni by 3.2 percent in the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2017, up to 175,992 vehicles, according to the Association of Automobile Constructors in Romania (ACAROM) quoted by http://business-review.eu.

The model with the highest production was Dacia Duster (118,156 units), followed by Dacia Sandero (27,066 units), Dacia Logan (18,463) and Dacia Logan MCV (12,307).

In 2017, Dacia produced 313,883 units in Romania, down 2 percent from 2016.Romanian car manufacturer Dacia has been a subsidiary of the French car manufacturer Renault since 1999. The cars are produced at the Dacia factory in Mioveni, near Pitesti, Romania, and a second one in Tangier, Morocco.

Dacia’s sales in the European Union increased by 17.4 percent year-on-year in the first five months of 2018, to 225,861 units, exceeding the sales of Seat and Kia and approaching Citroen, according to data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
