Insolvencies fall by 5.56pct, Jan.-Sept. 2018; suspensions, dissolutions up 13.11pct, 26.49pct


The number of firms and individuals facing insolvency fell by 5.56pct in the first nine months of this year compared with the similar period of 2017, to 6,083, according to data posted on the website of the National Companies Register Office (ONRC).

Most of them are in Bucharest, 1,167, down 16.22pct over the same period of 2017. The next largest such insolvencies were reported for the counties of Bihor - 414 insolvencies (+ 17.95pct), Timis - 323 (+ 21.89pct), Constanta - 317 (+ 14.44pct) and Iasi - with 308 (-20pct).

In September, 468 firms and individuals faced insolvency.

The largest number of insolvencies by business field was recorded in the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles: 1,913 (-1.03pct). As many as 144 insolvencies were reported in September alone in this field.

At the same time, between January and September 2018, 13,323 firms suspended their activity, up 13.11pct from the same period of 2017, of which 1,155 in September, and 26,174 companies were dissolved, by 26.49pct more than in the first nine months of 2017.

In September, 2,216 companies were dissolved.
