Number of companies suspending their activity in January-April down 21.16 pct

The number of companies that suspended their activity in the first four months of the year dropped by 21.16 per cent compared with the same period of 2018, down to 5,486, according to data published by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

In April, 1,052 companies suspended their activity.

Most companies that suspended their activity in the first four months of this year are in Bucharest, namely 538, down by 37.8 per cent compared with the same period of last year, the capital city being followed by Bihor County (279 companies, down 14.94 per cent), Cluj (268, down 6.29 per cent) and Neamt (210, down 14.63 per cent).

On the opposite side of the scale, less suspensions in January-March 2019 took place in the Ialomita County (25, down 21.88 per cent compared with January-April last year), Braila (44, down 38.89 per cent) and Giurgiu (47, down 29.85 per cent).

In January-April 2019, Dolj, Teleorman and Tulcea counties saw increases in the number of companies that suspended their activity. Thus, in Dolj, 148 companies interrupted their activity, up by 34.55 per cent against the same period last year, in Teleorman 76, up 18.75 per cent, and in Tulcea 55 (plus 3.77 per cent).
