OMV Petrom, Dacia and Rompetrol first ranked in the Top 100 of Romanian companies in 2013

OMV Petrom, Dacia and Rompetrol are the first ranked in the Top 100 of Romanian companies by last year's turnover, according to this year's edition of the TOP 100 companies made by FinMedia, based on data obtained from the Ministry of Finance.

‘The Top 100 companies accounts for 26 percent of the business turnover of the entire system of nonfinancial companies in Romania this year. At the same time, the Top focuses on the most powerful and influential branches of multinational companies in Romania. In this respect, we have a first this year, we have 13 billionaires, 13 companies with a turnover that is either bigger or equal to one billion euros. All the 13 companies are running mostly on foreign capital', said the director of the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Romanian Academy, Cezar Mereuta, who attended the event occasion by the release of the Top 100.

First is ranked OMV Petrom Bucuresti, with business worth 4.3 billion euros last year, followed by another company belonging to the Petrom Group, OMV Marketing (the former OMV Romania), with 3.3 billion euros in 2012 turnover.

The ranking continues with Automobile Dacia Mioveni, 2.8 billion euros in turnover.

Rompetrol Refinery and Rompetrol Downstream follow next, with 2.7 and 1.8 billion euros in turnover respectively.

British American Tobacco ranks 6th, with business worth 1.4 billion euros.

Kaufland Romania had a business turnover of 1.4 billion euros.

Another oil company, Lukoil Romania, ranked 8th, with 1.3 billion euros in turnover, followed by Renault Industry Romania 0 1.2 billion euros, ArcelorMittal Galati - 1.2 billion euros and E.ON Energy Romania - 1.1 billion euros in turnover.

Metro Cash&Carry ranked 12th, with 1 billion euros in its business turnover.

Among the companies that are owned by the state, Romgaz Medias - 862 million euros in turnover last year - was the best ranked, 17th, followed by Electrocentrale Bucharest - 469 million euros, CFR Passengers - 374 million euros and Nuclearelectrica - 370 million euros in turnover.
