OPSPI: Nuclearelectrica listed in June

The head of the Office of State Ownership and Privatization in Industry (OPSPI), Gabriel Dumitrascu, declared on Thursday that the plan to list Nuclearelectrica will be published on June 15 and sales on the Stock Exchange of 51% will be made in July. “Plans will be published two weeks in advance,” said Dumitrascu at a seminar on energy topics.

The listing of 15% of Romgaz Medias will be in October, while a master plan is needed to list the Energy Complex Oltenia, Mediafax informs.Asked why the state wants to give up control over Electrica, a company with profit, Dumitrascu invoked the privatization law and said the state will thus have higher incomes and will be able to make decisions about the company.

There is the privatization law, by which the state has to reduce its participations in all sectors. Talks with IMF were unclear about Electrica. A remodeling was necessary. The conclusion was that the sale of 51% would be in our favour,” said the head of OPSPI.

In a 2012 accord with IMF the government engaged in privatizing Electrica distribution, supply and service sectors. According to Dumitrascu, that plan was given up because by selling 51% of Electrica stock the state could get more money. He pointed out that Electrica could become more efficient once the state gave up control over the company.According to Dumitrascu, the state hopes to find a strategic investor ready to buy 51% of Hunedoara Energy Complex.
