The number of companies which suspended their activity dropped with almost 30% in the first seven months

The number of companies which suspended their activity dropped in the first seven months of 2020 by 29.8% against the similar period of 2019, getting to 6,177 according to the data published by the National Office for Trade Registrar (ONRC).

Most companies which suspended their activity between January – July 2020 were from Bucuresti 641 respectively ( dropping by 25.64% against the same period of 2019), the capital city being followed by Cluj county with 436 suspended companies ( dropping by 8.21%), Bihor with 295 companies (-33.26%) and Iasi – with 263 companies (-18.07%).

At the other end, the fewest suspensions were in Ialomita county (24, dropping by 35.14% against January – July 2019) Gorj (40, dropping by 56.99%) and Giurgiu (40, -55.06%).

According to the quoted source, there was no county where there were increases of suspensions while the most significant drops were found in Mehedinti (-60%), Vrancea (-58.55%) and Gorj (-56.99%).

As for domains of activity, the biggest number of suspensions was in wholesale and retail, vehicles and motocycles repairs, namey 1,704 (-37.63%) in other activities of services – 676 suspensions (-15.71%) and in professional, scientific and technical activities – 514 suspensions (-28.31%).

In July there were recorded 1,041 suspensions of companies, most in Bucuresti 131 and in Cluj county – 58 and Brasov – 52.
