€66.5 million for flood damage repairs in Romania, Bulgaria and Italy

Romania, Bulgaria and Italy will get a total of 66.5 million euros in aid for the 2014 floods; the European Parliament (EP) approved on Tuesday in Strasbourg the European Commission proposal to this effect, a press release says 
The aid is granted from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF). 
Romania gets 4.198 million euros for the last year's April-May floods and 4.297 million euros for the July-August ones. Italy receives 56.026 million euros and Bulgaria 1.983 million euros.

The proposal for the aid was adopted by 667 votes to 31, with 11 abstentions.

The aid aims at helping national authorities to repair damages to public and private infrastructure, households, companies, environment or cultural heritage.
The EUSF was established in November 2002 to help the EU member countries on natural disasters; it contributes to essential emergency measures and to restoration works. 
The Tuesday's release of funds was the first in 2015; 895 million euros is available this year.
