AMRO could support the activity of the economic working groups of the Task Force

State Secretary for Strategic Affairs with the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) Bogdan Aurescu on Wednesday welcomed Executive Chairman of the Romania - US Business Council (AMRO) Eric Stewart, with Aurescu asking for the support of the AMRE-member US companies in the process of Romania's accession to the Visa Waiver programme, as the United States' strategic partner, MAE informs in a release.

'Bogdan Aurescu underscored the consistent effort from the Romanian Government for the consolidation and enlargement of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the US, pointing out to the launch in October 2012 of a Task Force for the implementation of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between the US and Romania adopted in Washington on September 13, 2011,' the MAE release reads.

Bogdan Aurescu hailed and encouraged the involvement of the business community in the strengthening of this structure, including by taking part in its future meetings, the above-quoted source says.

Eric Stewart presented AMRO's vision on the most effective ways to include the structure he represents into the activity of the Romanian-US task force. In this context, the two interlocutors discussed about the manner in which AMRO could support the activity of the economic working groups (on energy security and strategic infrastructure) of the Task Force, MAE informs.

In addition, Aurescu requested the support of the AMRE-member US companies in the process of Romania's accession to the Visa Waiver programme, as the United States' strategic partner.

In his turn, Eric Stewart reiterated AMRO's interest and willingness to back up Romania's moves aimed to the liberalization, as soon as possible, of the visa regime with the US. Stewart also voiced AMRO's interest in contributing to the organization of visits paid by members of the Romanian Cabinet to the US this year, to promote the Romanian business and investment milieu.

The Romanian - US Business Council - AMRO, a non-profit organization based in Washington, aimed at promoting the economic relations between Romania and the US was launched on Jan. 25, 2012 in Washington.
