Ballets Jazz Montreal comes to Bucharest with “Dance Me”, a walk with Leonard Cohen
“Dance Me” is a love letter to Leonard Cohen and the world, a heart to heart connection with the audience. We invite you to a walk with the great poet and composer, in the rain or snow, sun or spring that bring hope,” said Alexandra Damiani, Art Director of Ballets Jazz Montreal, at the press conference organized to announce the 24th edition of JTI Meetings. This year, the Canadian company Ballets Jazz Montreal will present the show Dance Me, on Leonard Cohen's music.
Ballets Jazz Montreal has performance rights for 5 years, which are close to the end. As a result, Dance Me can be seen only on November 16 and 17, with only a few tickets left on eventim.ro.
“ Ballets Jazz Montreal celebrates 50 years of existence and JTI 30 years. We are part of what happened after 1990. Including values, because we associate JTI with freedom, good and beauty. Together with Valerian Mares and Silvia Ghiata, our long run partners, we want to continue organizing this event and we invite you to the 25th anniversary edition of JTI Meetings in Bucharest and Sibiu, ar FITS 2024”, said Gilda Lazar, JTI director.
The Canadian company addresses the general public, combining art and entertainment and organizing tours on prestigious stages around the world. According to the art director of BJM, Canadian dancers impress through technique, sensuality, beauty, dynamics and generosity.
Three renowned choreographers worked for Dance Me, creating a unitary show.
“Adonis Foniadakis concentrated on dynamism, placing dance and music in contrast, Ihsan Rustem brought the story to the foreground, trying to learn why and when Leonard Cohen composed, while Annabelle Lopez Ochoa displayed emotion. Eric Jean brought simplicity, which lends magic to the show. Everytime when present Dance Me, we feel that Leonard Cohen is close to us, crossing the stage with his unmistakeble hat and raincoat,” Damiani added.
