Censure motion, adopted with 261 votes

The censure motion titled "Orban / PNL government - privatisation of Romanian democracy", initiated by the Social Democratic Party (PSD), was adopted by Parliament on Wednesday.

There were 261 votes "in favour" and 139 "against", as announced by acting leader of the Social Democrats, Marcel Ciolacu

"According to the provisions of the Constitution, the censure motion is adopted with the majority's vote, that is at least 233. It is found that the majority of the votes necessary for the adoption of the censure motion have been met," PSD deputy Lia-Olguta Vasilescu, secretary of the Chamber of Deputies has announced.

In his turn, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, explained that, "under the constitutional and regulatory provisions, Parliament adopts the censure motion and withdraws the confidence granted, and the Government conducts only the necessary acts such as the administration of public affairs until the appointment of the new Executive."
