Citu: Program supporting small and medium companies operational this week

Finance minister Florin Citu announces that the program supporting small and medium companies will be operational this week and solutions will be found to support big companies and the banking system in the period of health crisis.

“I do not see financing problems. Obviously from loans, as budget incomes will drop in the next period, there are companies which do not function now and incomes will drop,”said the finance minister on Monday night at B1TV.

Florin Citu said that on a short term, bills can be paid, VAT will be returned in March and April – about 10 billions, and more money will be allocated to the Health Insurance House for the payment of medical leaves after budget rectification.

The finance minister also declared that fiscal measures adopted by the Romanian state are more “relaxed”than in other countries, giving the example of credit lines to finance small and medium companies which are for everybody. Citu added that the procedure of granting these credit lines will be completed in 2-3 days, and companies will have to fill in a single form which will go to banks, the National Guarantee Fund, and then it will connect small businessmen and banks.

As for large companies and the banking system, the finance minister said they are supported through the payment of technical unemployment while the government is looking for solutions for their support, and solutions will be announced this week.
