Corlatean at the meeting with Jens Stoltenberg: the decisions of the NATO summit regarding Russia to be kept

 Titus Corlateanu met, on Tuesday,in Brussels with the new head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, the minister of foreign affairs focusing on the necessity to keep the decisions adopted at the summit in September regarding the relation with Russia, showing that there are no conditions to revise them.



On the occasion of the meeting, there were presented the results of the NATO summit in the UK ( 4-5 September), the Romanian minister for foreign affairs mentioning ‘ the major priority which should be offered to the complete implementation and the deadlines included in the decisions at the summit in Wales as regards collective defence’ MFA informs in a press release.



Titus Corlatean stated that Romania will contribute actively to the shaping of the long-term reaction of NATO to the security situation in the Black Sea, fighting for the strengthening of the cooperation reports of the Alliance with eastern partners – especially with Georgia, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.



According to MFA,the head of diplomacy underlined the necessity to keep the decisions adopted at the summit in Wales regarding the relation with Russia, showing there are no conditions to revise them.

At the same time, the Romanian official showed the progress obtained, according to the timetable, in the development of the antimissile defence system, through the Base in Deveselu.



Corlatean addressed the general secretary NATO the invitation to make an official visit to Romania in 2015 with a view to strengthening the bilateral dialogue on the present issue under discussion on the NATO agenda, invitation which was accepted, MFA informs.
