Dan Voiculescu summoned to DNA

Dan Voiculesu was summoned on Thursday afternoon by the National Anti- corruption Department (DNA) according to judicial sources. The press recently showed that Marian Capatana had declared in court, when the protest against his preventive arrest in the case of the president’s brother was analysed, that Dan Voiculescu had given some members of the Anghel family one million euro to say they had given Mircea Basescu and his brother, the head of state, money in exchange for interventions to get Sandu Anghel out of prison.

Dan Voiculescu and 12 other persons are tried in the case of the privatization of the Food Research Institute(ICA).Voiculescu’s lawyers asked the supreme court to move the case from Bucharest Court of Appeal to another court because the president of the court was not impartial.

The court decided to extend the already existing distraint to several shares and properties which Dan Voiculescu had donated to his daughters Corina and Camelia Voiculescu: 36 ha of land in Garlei Street, two sets of 5,000 shares at Grivco company, each of them donated to his two daughters and two sets of 9.9 million shares worth 2 million lei at the Company for Applied and Investigative Research.

DNA prosecutors say the fraudulent privatization of ICA had been made to benefit Dan Voiculescu, by under evaluating institute assets with over 7.7 million euro. According to prosecutors the prejudice amounts to over 60 million euro.
