Jordan's Prime Minister and Defence Minister Bisher Khasawneh received on Thursday the Romanian Defence Minister, Angel Tilvar, for a discussion on bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, reports a news release by the Jordanian News Agency Petra.

During the meeting, the Jordanian prime minister underlined his country's strong ties with Romania and commitment to strengthening cooperation within the framework offered by the European Union.

Khasawneh pointed out that there are ample possibilities for bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of education, culture, trade and agriculture, recalling the Romanian-Jordanian Agricultural Commission meeting currently taking place in Romania, with the aim of increasing cooperation in the areas of food security and agricultural trade.

The Jordanian prime minister also spoke about developments in the region, primarily the Palestinian cause, as well as regional and international efforts in the war against terrorism.

The Romanian minister also underlined the 'great potential' for increasing cooperation with Jordan, noting the importance of exchanging expertise in the interests of both countries.

The meeting also addressed partnerships in the military and defence fields, the Jordanian agency reported.
