Deposits of non-government resident customers, companies, slightly down in October

 Deposits of non-government resident customers went down by 0.2 % on a monthly basis to RON 490,803.2 million, while the annual growth rate was 7.1% (down 7.1% in real terms), according to a press statement released by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

RON-denominated deposits of residents, representing 63.6 % of deposits of non-government customers, picked up by 0.3% to RON 312,185.5 million on a monthly basis. In year-over-year comparison, they grew by 6.1% (down 8.0% in real terms).

According to BNR, household deposits in lei increased by 2.8% compared with the previous month, up to 165.448 billion lei, and by 2.7% (-11.0% in real terms) compared withthe same period of the year before.

RON-denominated household deposits increased by 2.8% to RON 165,448.3 million on a monthly basis, and by 2.7 % (down 11.0 % in real terms) year over year.

Also, forex-denominated deposits of residents, representing 36.4% of the total volume of deposits of non-government customers, went down 1.0% against September 2022 to RON 178,617.7 million when stated in the local currency, the leu (RON) (when stated in euro, these deposits decreased by 0.3% to EUR 36,348.0 million). As against October 2021, the indicator grew by 8.9% when stated in RON (9.7 % when stated in euro).

Forex-denominated deposits of households decreased by 1.0 % from September 2022 to RON 124,229.3 million when sated in RON (when stated in euro, these deposits went down 0.3 % to EUR 25,280.2 million). Y-o-y, the indicator expanded by 7.1 % when stated in the local currency (7.8 % when stated in euro).

Forex-denominated deposits of other declined 0.9 % from September 2022 to RON 54,388.4 million when stated in RON (when stated in euro, these deposits decreased by 0.2% to EUR 11,067.8 million). Compared with October 2021, the indicator moved up 13.4% when stated in RON (14.2 % when stated in euro).
