Doing Business 2016: Romania is at no. 37 among 189 countries


Romania is at no. 37 among 189 countries, in the 'Doing Business 2016' rankings drawn up by the World Bank, with a total score of 73.78 points. 

Although the overall score recorded by Romania this year is by 0.19 points higher than that of 73.59 points last year, Romania has remained at no. 37 in this annual World Bank ranking. 

The report of the international financial institution examines 189 economies based on 11 criteria such as starting a business, getting a loan, access to electricity network and cross-border transactions. However, the report does not cover areas such as security, macroeconomic stability or corruption. 

In this ranking, Romania is ahead of countries such as Bulgaria, at no. 38, Hungary - 42nd place, Belgium - 43rd, Italy - 45th and Turkey -55th, but is behind the Czech Republic- 36th, Japan - 34th, Slovenia and Slovakia, both at no. 29. 

According to the World Bank, in terms of starting a business, Romania is ranking at no. 45 among 189 countries, with eight places down from 2014. (The full report and accompanying datasets are available at http://www.doingbusiness.org/)
