EBRD finances the urban infrastructure in Craiova: new buses and public  buildings with high energy efficiency

The European bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) offered a  loan of 15 million dollars for new buses and public buildings with high energy efficiency in Craiova, informs the banking institution.

The bank will finance rehabilitation of 14 public buildings and the acquisition of up to 40 buses with reduced polluting rate (EURO6).

As a result, the investment will contribute to the reduction of the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, improving the quality of the environment and life in Craiova.

Previously to this loan, EBRD financed the extension and rehabilitation of the water supply system and sewage system and contributed to the development of the Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility for the Craiova metropolitan area.

This new financing is part of the EBRD programme Green Cities which relies on the experience of over two decades in municipal infrastructure and environment projects.

Through this programme EBRD will support Craiova to elaborate an action plan to analyse investment options in ‘green  projects’ in the domain of transport, infrastructure, water, sanitation, etc.

Since it started its activity in Romania, EBRD has invested over 8 billion euro in over 400 country projects.
