EcoMin Vosganian informs they will discuss privatization of aircraft industry in CSAT meeting on Monday

Minister of Economy Varujan Vosganian said on Thursday that he had submitted a report to the Prime Minister on the privatization of the aircraft industry and emphasized the fact that they would discuss this subject on Monday in the meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT).

'I have also submitted the report on the privatization of the aircraft industry we are going to discuss on Monday in the Supreme Council of National Defence. I am referring to IAR Ghimbav [central Romania], Avioane in Craiova [southern Romania] and Romaero,' Vosganian told a press conference given at the headquarters of the National Liberal Party.

He stressed the fact that on Wednesday he discussed the subject of privatization too with an investor, referring to Aerostar in Bacau (eastern Romania).

'I want to convey a very clear message to the employees working with Avioane in Craiova, who, as far as I could gather, were seized with panic. Insolvency is out of the question, what we intend to do is to privatize and preserve the activity as these three companies are part of this country's defence capability and it is out of the question to give up their activity. Yesterday too I talked with a first investor, who is Romania's honorary consul in Haifa and who owns the military port of Haifa and who wants to participate in the privatization of the military shipyard at Mangalia [south-eastern Romania],' added Vosganian.
