Enescu Competition 2024 opens applications for competitors
The George Enescu International Competition 2024 announces the opening of applications for the 19th edition, which will take place between 31 August and 29 September 2024 in Bucharest, with young musicians from all over the world expected to submit their entries for the cello, violin, piano and composition sections.
The deadline for submitting the applications is 10 May 2024 for the cello, violin and piano sections, while entries for the composition section are expected by 30 June 2024. Competitors can apply online by visiting the official Competition website: concurs.festivalenescu.ro/apply/
The pre-selection of the competition will take place online, as a jury appointed by the organiser for each section will be analysing the video recordings sent by competitors, thus choosing the competitors who will participate in the four stages held in Bucharest: Stage I, Stage II, Semifinal and Final.
A novelty starting this year is the extension of the age limit for registration to 35 years, in accordance with the World Federation of International Music Competition, organisation of which the Enescu Competition has been a member since 2002.
The total value of the prizes is EUR 125,000 for the four sections of the competition. Besides the money prizes, the winners will also benefit from national and international promotion and artistic launch through partnerships made by ARTEXIM, the organiser of the competition, with artist management agencies and orchestras from Romania and abroad.
The producer of the competition is the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Culture, the event being held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
