EU Funds Minister: SOP HRD and SOP IEC expenditure statements to be referred to EC in September – October
The Ministry of European Funds will refer to the European Commission the expenditure statements for the Sectoral Operational Program 'Increase of Economic Competitiveness' (SOP-IEC) and the Sectoral Operational Program 'Human Resources Development' (SOP-HRD) in September - October, incumbent Minister Eugen Teodorovici told Agerpres.
'In September-October we'll start sending the Commission the statements of expenditure for SOP-HRD and SOP-IEC and the uptake we expect will automatically occur at the end of October. We decided to check again all the historical data in the system in order to avoid problems next year. We are speaking about inflows, money from the Commission and amounts referred for reimbursement,' said Teodorovici.
According to the Minister, more than 2.8 billion euros are expected to flow to the country from the European Commission.
'The first figure, the one related to the amounts that will come to Romania, will be in excess of 2.8billion euros. So far, over 1.9 billion euros have been transferred to the country. We will definitely exceed 2.8 billion euros by year-end. We'll have a very good situation of the inflows. As for our referrals for reimbursement to the Commission, last year we sent documents for 3.5 billion euros, and the target this year is a minimum of 2.9 billion euros which we will definitely exceed. For those who fear that we might not attain this target, let me tell them they should relax, things will happen exactly as I said in the beginning,' the Minister of European Funds assured.
According to data published on the Ministry's website, as of August 22, the absorption rate of EU funds was 36.61 percent.
'The value of statements of expenditure submitted to the European Commission is 7.034 billion euros, which stands for a current absorption rate of 36,61 percent of the EU allocations. The total amount received from the European Commission is 9.11 billion euros, representing 47.42 percent of the EU allocation for 2007-2013. Of these funds, interim reimbursements stand at 7.002 billion euros, which represents 36.45 percent of the EU allocation for 2007-2013,' the institution's website informs.
Romania has 92 major projects approved by the European Commission, the aggregate value of which is approximately 10.77 billion euros.
