Eurostat: Germany, Italy and France, Romania’s main trading partners in 2017

Germany was Romania’s main trading partner last year, as 20 percent of Romania’s exports and imports of goods were destined or came from the first European economy, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, shows, romaniajournal.ro reads.

At the same time, at EU level, Germany was the main destination for goods exported by 17 Member States and one of the top three destinations for 22 Member States.

Returning to Romania’s main trading partners, Germany is followed by Italy, where 11 percent of Romania’s goods were exported and 10 percent of imports came from. Other major trading partners of Romania are: France, 7 percent – exports and 5 percent – imports; Hungary, 5 percent – exports and 7 percent – import; Great Britain, 4 percent – exports and Poland, 5 percent – imports.

In 2017, the EU imported most goods from China (20 percent of imports of goods) and exported most to the United States (20 percent of exports of goods).

EU-US goods exchanges amounted to EUR 631 billion or 16.9 percent of total international trade in EU goods, and those between the EU and China amounted to EUR 573 billion, or 15.3 percent of the total. Switzerland, with a trade of EUR 261 billion or 7 percent; Russia, EUR 231 billion or 6.2 percent, Turkey, EUR 154 billion or 4.1 percent and Japan, EUR 129 billion or 3.5 percent.
