Eurostat:Romania posts EU 2nd-highest retail trade increase in May

Romanian retail trade rose by 10.3 percent in May as compared to the same month a year ago, this being the second-highest increase recorded by a European Union member after Luxembourg (16.7 pct), show figures released by the European Union statistical office (Eurostat) on Thursday.
Retail trade volume in the euro area rose 0.7 percent, while in the European Union (EU 28) it advanced 1.2 percent.
In May 2014 compared with April 2014, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade remained stable in the euro area and fell by 0.1 percent in the EU 28, with Romania posting the second-highest increase in the EU at 1.9 percent.
