Eurostat : Romania, the third in EU for the drop in retail, in June

The volume of retail dropped by 0.9% in the euro zone (EA17) and increased by 0.1% in the EU (EU27) in June 2013, by comparison to the similar period of 2012, Spain, Slovenia and Romania recording the most significant decline in EU, according to the data presented on Monday by the European Office for Statistics (Eurostat). Among the member states, the retail dropped in eight countries and increased in 17 member states.

The most significant drops were recorded in Spain (minus6.9%), Slovenia (minus 3.6%) and Romania (minus 3.1%) and the most important increase was recorded in Luxembourg (27.5%), Lithuania (6.7%) and Poland (5.5%).

In June 2013, by comparison to the previous month, the volume of retail dropped by 0.5% in the euro zone and by 0.3% in the EU. Among the member states,retail dropped in 11 countries, increased in 10 member states and was the same in Bulgaria.

The most significant drops were recorded in Estonia (minus 3.3%), Hungary (minus 1.9%) Austria (minus 1.7%), Germany (minus 1.5%). In exchange, the biggest increase was recorded in Malta (1.8%), Luxembourg (1.3%) and Denmark (1.2%).
