Federica Mogherini, High Representative of EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of EC, starts today a visit to Bucharest

President Klaus Iohannis on Friday will welcome at the Cotroceni Palace Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, the discussion agenda including, among others, a comprehensive opinion exchange on the development in the EU's eastern neighbourhood, with a focus on the best modalities to support the Union's partners.
According to a Presidential Administration release, the meeting takes place in a context marked by developments with strategic impact on a global level, which recommend the reconfiguration of the role of the European Union, defined by drawing up the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy and the strategy's implementing roadmap, the presentation of which was welcomed at the European Council's June meeting.
"The discussion agenda includes a comprehensive opinion exchange on the development in the EU's eastern neighbourhood, with a focus on the best modalities of supporting the Union's partners, migration and EU's responses to this phenomenon, the process of implementing the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy, and the level of Romania's representation to the European External Action Service," the source points out
