FinMin: talks with the mission of IMF, EC and WB will focus on the Tax Code draft
The Government intends to successfully close the talks with the three international financing bodies who will send representatives to Bucharest next week, so that the standing agreement is properly completed in September, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici said on Friday.
According to him, the talks with the mission of the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the World Bank will focus on the Tax Code draft and on the structural reforms.
"It is a technical mission, and I hope it will end with a success, so that we can reopen the talks on the programme with the IMF, the European Commission and the World Bank. Just this week I have participated in ECOFIN, the finance ministers' council in Brussels, where I have restated the fact that Romania is firmly committed to reopen the talks on this programme and successfully complete it in September," Teodorovici said.
Asked whether a new agreement was considered, he answered the main thing was to successfully carry out the present one.
He mentioned that the technical mission's purpose was to discuss every provision in the Tax Code, based on arguments; nevertheless, he stressed, Romania needed a tax alleviation.
"Nearly all the European states are pleading for tax alleviation measures; Romania has to do the same. We will see the result of it at the technical dialogue this month," the minister declared.
