Fitch reconfirms Romania's country rating
The rating agency Fitch reconfirmed Friday, October 22, 2021, the sovereign rating related to the government debt of Romania to the BBB- for the long-term debt in foreign currency and the negative outlook.
"The agency's decision represents a signal for Romania to continue at a sustained pace the fiscal-budgetary policies, the reform and investment plans assumed for the next years", declared the Minister of Finance, Dan Vîlceanu.
The level of the rating recommended for investments is supported by the level of government debt and its associated service below the level of countries in the same rating category, as well as the level of GDP per capita, indicators of governance and human capital development, and membership. to the European Union. At the same time, the agency notes that these factors underpinning the rating are offset by still high twin deficits, a weak historical level of fiscal consolidation and a relatively high level of net external debt.
