Ford Craiova estimates record output volume in 2020: over 1,000 vehicle built daily
In 2020, Ford Craiova will reach a new output record of 1,000 vehicles built in a day, one for every 67 seconds, the company announced on Tuesday.
Ford Craiova exports vehicles in over 50 world markets. Since 2008 to the present day, Ford has invested 1.5 million euros at Craiova works. About 3400 jobs have been creates in the last three years and the total number of employees has reached 6300.
Ford Romania confirms that the state of the art Craiova works will reach a record assembly volume this year: over 1,000 Puma and EcoSport units, which means that a car is manufactured every 67 minutes.
New Ford Puma has already been delivered to all European markets where Ford is present. This year the model built at Craiova will be exported to Australia, being the first vehicle made in Romania delivered to that market. With 1.5 billion euros invested in Craiova works as of 2008, Ford Romania has 6300 employees working in the Vehicle Assembly and Engine factories.
“In the context of an accelerated vehicle manufacture rate, the Engine Factory will reach a new record: about 1,700 engines made in a single day. Three versions of the prized 1.0 EcoBoost engine are being built: 100 hp, 125 hp and 155hp mHEV,” a press release shows.
New Ford Puma, made exclusively in Craiova, received the maximum of five stars at the safety tests made by Euro NCAP independent authority. Ford Puma got the highest marks at the lateral impact test with barrier and at the difficult lateral impact with pole test.
