Foreign Minister Andrei Marga is paying an official visit to Israel


Foreign Minister Andrei Marga met on Tuesday Israel's Minister of Science and Technology Daniel Hershkowitz with whom he discussed, among others, the setting up of a joint Hi-tech Center dedicated to promoting specific projects.

'The two officials discussed ways to step up bilateral cooperation in research and development, and looked into the possibility to update the bilateral legal framework. Minister Marga showed that, apart from the general objective of defining the legal framework for the Romania - Israel cooperation in research and development by the conclusion of an agreement, the Romanian side also pursues three major objectives in the relationship with Israel: the establishment of a bi-national foundation to finance joint projects, technology transfer, as well as creating a joint Hi-tech Center dedicated to promoting concrete projects,' informs a Foreign Ministry release.

According to the cited source, during talks, the two officials highlighted the complementing character of the two countries' science and technology, with Minister Andrei Marga emphasizing the high level of training of Romanian experts interested Israeli investors could also resort to.

Foreign Minister Andrei Marga is paying an official visit to Israel at the invitation of his counterpart Avigdor Lieberman. The Romanian Foreign Minister has meetings scheduled with the Head of State, Prime Minister, Parliament's Chairman, as well as with his Israeli counterpart.
