Foreign Ministry issues warning for traveling to India following revocation of special status for Jammu and Kashmir state

The Foreign Ministry informs Romanian citizens who are in or want to travel to India, that as of Monday, on the background of escalating tensions appeared following the revocation of the special status for Jammu and Kashmir state, the Indian government issued an order that denies traffic in the area, Internet and mobile phone services being suspended in several places in the state.

According to the Foreign Ministry, foreign citizens do not have access to the area, while those who already are there must leave the state immediately.

Romanian citizens who are in India are advised to watch for travel warnings on the website of the Foreign Ministry and register their presence in India at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in New Delhi.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry  points out that Romanian citizens should avoid travels to Srinagar, Imphal, Uttar Pradesh and West  Bengal areas, as well as to the busy areas of Pune, New Delhi and Mumbai.
