Four Eurofighter fighter jets from Germany arrive in Romania to support air police mission
Four Eurofighter fighter jets from Germany arrived in Romania on Wednesday to provide support for airspace surveillance since the end of November.
"Germany supports its NATO ally, Romania, in the surveillance of the airspace within the enhanced air policing mission Air Policing South (eAPS). Thus, this afternoon (Wednesday - ed.n), the Eurofighter fighter jets of the German Air Force arrived at the Mihail Kogalniceanu military base near Constanta," the German Embassy says in a statement sent on Wednesday.
According to the source, as of November 27, four Eurofighter fighter jets will be operational and will strengthen air defense on NATO's South-Eastern Flank. Beforehand, NATO certification will be carried out.
"I warmly welcome the members of the German intervention contingent in Romania. By participating again in the reinforced Air Policing South mission with four Eurofighter fighter jets, we show that we stand with our ally, Romania, and collaborate in securing our ally's territory. I thank our Romanian partners for their hospitality and excellent cooperation," said the German ambassador to Romania, Peer Gebauer, quoted in the press release.
